Description of my Work:
In the past, my work consisted of traditional black and white photography. I decided to enter the realm of digital photography which allows me to continue with my black and white subjects and also to explore the world of color photography. I do my own printing using quality ink and paper. All my mats are cut by hand and are available in various sizes and colors.
I like to capture the mood and expressions of animals, as can be seen in my animal photographs. The eyes of the animals are especially important to me because it tend to induce a sense of wonder.
Old Florida is another area that I like to concentrate on. Houses, barns and etc. are of interest to me because so much of it is disappearing. Photographing these subjects gives me an opportunity to bring out the uniqueness of each subject by the use of light and shadow. Since so many areas are disappearing, it is important to me to at least try and record them.
N ature as a whole has always been of interest. My nature photographs show the importance of light in a scene and what we might miss in the shadows or take for granted.
Digital color photography is quite different. My subjects tend to lean towards the artistic and the quiet scenery. I feel that black and white, and color, demand a feeling of their own to bring out the quality and meaning in a photograph.
I am in the process of trying to blend the two mediums together to acheieve the same goal and that is to enhance the imagination.
